|Hook:||Short shank or shrimp hook, TMC 2487 or Kamasan Grub, two to four sizes smaller than you’d normally use for the same imitation.|
|Thread:||8/0, UTC 70, thread colour to match the insect colour. Thin thread makes a much neater fly.|
|Abdomen/tail:||Fine natural fur dubbing (Wapsi natural fur blend).|
|Underbody and split tails:||Dark “invisible” sewing thread (available from most haberdashers and Hypermarkets).|
|Wing case:||Pheasant tail fibres.|
|Hackle:||Small hen or soft cock hackle wound in open turns through the thorax and trimmed at the top.|
